• Receiving & Transport

Receiving:

  • Hydraulic channel
  • Bins tipper
  • Dry receiving systems (including leaf)

Receiving regards the first phase of the process of each complete line, and defines the different ways in which the raw material reaches and is transported inside the factory to be subsequently processed. There are several ways and procedures through which the product can reach the factory. Our tanks, receiving channels and conveyor belts are suitable for any type of transport, since they are made in different shapes and sizes depending on the type and quantity of product to be treated.

In detail, the receiving methods are mainly suitable for: 25 kg boxes, 250 bins or 400 kg bins, or the discharge directly from the truck body, which is emptied by means of lances. These lances include jets of water that have the function of facilitating the exit of the product, creating a flow that easily passes through the lower openings of the body, preventing the product from being blocked.

This last method is the most widespread for the transportation of raw materials such as tomatoes. Other products such as fruit and vegetables are usually transported through smaller containers such as boxes or bins. Depending on needs and capabilities, automatic or semi-automatic bins tipping systems can be provided.

Unilateral receiving and bilateral receiving

The receiving process can take place in two main different ways: unilateral or bilateral. That depends on the particular configuration of the receiving system. In the case of a one-way installation, the material unloading is possible on one side only. The trucks that transport boxes, bins, or raw material directly, perform the unloading operations one at a time.

Bidirectional unloading, on the other hand, provides faster discharge, allowing two trucks to unload the product in the receiving channels at a time. This demonstrates the great variety of Ing.A.Rossi machines that can adapt to the customer's needs and the different properties of the finished material.

The large amount of water present in the receiving channels contributes to a first phase of separation from large-scale waste, such as stones and sand. In fact, the first separation processes take place here. Ing.A.Rossi uses screw systems or scraping systems for the separation of the foreign elements present in the product.

A further refinement in the elimination of foreign substances can be obtained by passing from discharge circuits to a single water to exhaust systems of multiple waters (up to 3). Specially designed for processing leafy vegetables, we use rotating baskets systems to separate the coarser impurities from the product, a more accurate separation is then carried out in subsequent processing steps.

| Transport:

  • Hydraulic transport
  • Dry transport (belts, elevators)
  • Grass remover

Once the product has passed the receiving phase and is therefore in the plant, it has to be transported inside the factory. To bring the product to the subsequent sections of the process, Ing.A.Rossi provides different types of conveyors, offered based on the characteristics of the product and the specific requests of the customer:

Conveyors with hydraulic conveyors:

This type of conveyor is necessary in case that the distance between the delivery or discharge area of the product and the selection and washing station is wide, or in periods of high production, when the product must reach the sorting plans in a relatively short time, therefore on request , underground transport systems can also be realized. As a result, they do not hinder the means of movement in the forecourts, at the same time allowing wider movement areas to ensure long-term preservation, reducing material wear and without contaminating the raw material, stainless steel transport channels or transport channels in coated concrete are often made.

Belt conveyors

When the movement of the products through hydraulic transport is not possible Ing.A.Rossi has developed a particular type of belt conveyor, with the possibility of modification following suitably the specifications provided by the customer. The external structure of these transport systems is in stainless steel, while the conveyor belt can be either in canvas or in stainless meshes or plastic material, according on the type of product to be transported.

Elevators

Elevators, which could be realized as buckets or at rollers, are used to bring the product to the sorting and washing sections of the line if these are at a height higher than that of the transport channel.
In case of bucket elevators, the product is lodged in the cups, in continuous movement, which then automatically unload it once the desired height is reached. Roller elevators, on the other hand, are produced with rollers that are often elongated and that, by rotating, are able to carry the product resting on them. Moreover, the dimensions and the inclination of the elevators are adaptable to the customer's needs.

Weed removers

Specific weed removers may be used. These machines are offered as optionals available to the customer and have the function of eliminating the herbaceous residues. They are positioned above the transport channel and are equipped with arms that rotate to separate the raw material from the larger residues. In this case the product thanks to the force of the water is able to get around these arms, while the herbaceous residues remain stuck and consequently removed.

| Water filtration system

The goal that Ing.A.Rossi has pursued in its long experience in the food processing sector is to provide quality products obtaining the maximum result through minimum environmental impact. This translates into savings both from an economic point of view and in terms of waste, which is reduced to a minimum.

In this perspective, stainless steel drum filters are used, in order to retain impurities which are removed by a scraper and discharged by a screw.

Those filters allows the reuse of transport water and a general reduction of water consumption. In fact, the filtered water is collected in a tank and can return to the line by pump or by exploiting the height difference between line and filters. An automatic water level reintegration guarantees the optimum water level within the circuit.

Ing.A.Rossi has adopted a multi-water transport system. Thanks to this technology the product progressively meets different and cleaner water circuits, thus reducing impurities such as dirt and sand. Depending on the complexity of the receiving line, you can generally have 1 to 3 filters, one for each water in the line. Assuming a complete line with 3 filters, we distinguish 3 different waters:

- Discharge water;
- Primary transport water;
- Secondary transport water;

In the last washing tank there are usually 4-5 bar air blowing systems that allow an action of energetic movement that facilitates the cleaning of the fruits and the separation of the foreign material.
